Best VAF? Best ECU? for KL-ZE

Post by SmokyMcGee »

I looked at my KL-ZE in the warehouse the other day..It said on it 1994. I wanna buy a VAF and an ECU for it. Should I get it from a 94 2.5 Probe, MX-6, Millenia ? Or is there a better year I should get it from?

I was reading that the check engine light will come on. Read the Swap forum and read what the problem is.

How are you going to use a 96 Ford Probes ECU and VAF sensor? - OBDII

I am pretty sure that the 96' setup will not work for you because of OBD-II. Just use your 1.8 ECU and 1.8 VAF. The 1.8 vaf and kl-ze j-spec vaf are the exact same part. If you do use a vaf from a 2.5, use the 2.5 ecu also. I have a kl-ze and I am using my 1.8 ecu and vaf.<P>I found this on probetalk.com just now...<P>Q.<BR>"First off.. I run a 93 PGT.. <BR>I can obtain a 96 ECU for next to nothing.. <BR>Will that work anyways.. Simply because its an OBDII Chip? <BR>If it will, Would it be possible to re-program this chip? <BR>Your response would be appreciated greatly!<P>A.<BR>It won't work - the OBD2 computer is for an OBD2 equipped car and vice versa - you cannot reprogram it with OBD1 code nor, again, vice versa. (imagine trying to install Windows 95 on your old 286 computer)"<p>[ April 12, 2002: Message edited by: 93 mx-3 gs/se ]
