Re: Gutting the cat.
nopt only does gutting your cat lose backpressure, but ut also SLOWS DOWN exaust flow... gutting your cat is extremely not recomended. i cant think of an easier way to lose hp, torque, at least $100, legality, and time. not good at all.

on an mx-3, an exaust pipe of 2" is recomended(alway mandrel-bent), unless you have a turbo or nitrous.

Re: Homemade intake for 4cyl SOHC?...help
the tube going to your throttle body MUST be used for your car to work. i have a "home depot" intake. i got a breather for the valve cover. i integrated the hose from the throttle body into the intake via drilling a hole in the intake and glueing a 90 degree elbow into it. i then hooked op the hose ...

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!
it just might be your clutch... if ur clutch was going bad already, bringing your car to redline may have caused your clutch to slip as your rev-limiter was kicking in. have you ever smelled a burning clutch? smell remarkably like the exaust/sulfer smell that you noted. a new cluch on a 1.6 is about ...

Re: Question about the road salt
mine is just great. i have 2 tiny rust bubbles on the body right behind the right rear tire. just wash the car regularly and you shouldnt have a problem. it might be wise to also invest in a battery powered lock de-icer :p

the rust on the rotors should be fine. after braking a few times during driving, the rust should be gone.

Re: dual exhaust
dotdo it, it is more weight than it is worth... it may actually hurt your hp. there isnt enough air moving to nesessitate it, unless your running with a turbo or nitrous.
