Re: cat on or off?
I've had my cat off for about a year now.... I definately noticed the increase in power, but the car sounds raspy above 3000RPM cos I got a straight pipe welded in.

Re: my engine doesnt start! PLZ help
One day my car wouldn't start either, but everything worked - just not the starter. So I could push start it. Turned out my car alarm had malfuntioned and imoobilised the thing.
Might pay to check if you have one?

Re: All motor KLZE
Pelado, I don't think anyone was ever arguing as to whether an electrical supercharger was better than a mechanical supercharger or a turbo. What was merely said was that is was possible.
Yes... there is AC available in the engine bay.

Flaming only halts the flow of useful information ...

Re: 2.5klze swap or supercharged 1.8 at 8 psi
The 1.8 could take 8PSI on stock internals, providing:
a) It is intercooled efficiently
b) The A/F ratios are sweet
c) There is no detonation (follows B really)
This should put you over 200HP with the 1.8, with a great increase in low end torque.
My bet would be that the 1.8 is gonna ...

Re: Length of time for 1.8v6 - 2.5 swap
Providing you have everything you need as far as tools and parts are concerned, and if everything goes without a hitch, you could easily do it in a day. However the nature of this job means it rarely goes off without a hitch.
Being a good mechanic will make it a lot easier, and I have heard of ...

Re: Mazda6 220HP 3.0L V6 swap?
To Psyrg,
Awesome idea for a swap. Hope it works out for you. Bearing in mind that the Mazda 6 is still relatively new, it may be a better idea to stroke out a KLZE to 2.8L and work from there. You could try using 2JZ-GTE pistons to lower the compression and make it bullet proof (Those pistons are ...

Re: Mazda6 220HP 3.0L V6 swap?
As far as the engine is concerned, there are a few options as to what engine will be in the mazda 6.... the theory at this stage is a V6 3.0 and a I4 2.3 - two models. As for it being a Ford engine, I think you will find it is actually a Mazda design, assembled in a ford factory, with a mazda stamp ...

Re: clutch
Sounds like you may need to firstly bleed your clutch (Altho if it isn't bled that should make it engage easier) .... you also may need to adjust your clutch pedal (as per the specs in chilton)

Re: Supercharger Mounting Position
sounds like a good idea.... if it can be done.... there's not a lot of room on that side... also you'll have to run you intake piping to and from the supercharger... it would be awesome if you could do it tho...mmmm a reliably supercharged MX-3! ehhee

Re: Japanese version of the 1.8v6?
I think you'll find that the J-Spec K8 (K8ZE) puts out 145hp / 120 because it has a 10:1 compression ratio and more aggressive cams.... I have this information on an engine spec sheet from a mazda parts technician.... plus I own one

Re: auto to manual swap
I've done the swap on my GS, so if you need any extra info just message me or whatever. There are a few things that are going to catch you out if you don't do a lot of research first (I went back to my "local" mazda parts guy about 10 times in 4 days to get the right stuff)

This may sound silly... but does it come from your stereo speakers.... I had that problem with my MX-3 when I got it... turns out the head deck had dropped its ground .... just a thought
