ok here's my new dilemma. the head is stamped kl31, the tb is stamped kl31, but the front valve cover says ford? that just doesnt make sense to me. the guy once again is promising to check the pistons... do u think that maybe someone just changed the valve cover on it but its the right engine? help!!

i hate to be one of those people who doesnt search, and asks duplicate questions... but wont i have clearance probles w/the straight neck? thats the whole reason i wanted a curved neck. i need an engine asap, my k8 is leaking oil and coolant and i dont want to spend money to fix it.

i havent heard back about the pistons, but this is what i do know. its a curved neck IM, kl31 TB, and he has a KLDE and says its NOT the same engine, he said he sells the KLZE more often and people ask about it. But he just doesn't know about all the markings. Both engines he has are curved neck ...

i'm having them shine a light down to check the shape of the pistons. i really hope this is the right engine. its a pain in the a-- dealing w/people who don't know the product they are selling.

ok, you guys are making me feel so much better. a "kl31" stamp on the TB means its a klze, and not a klde? i hope this is correct.

what does a "kl31" stamped on the tb mean? i bid on this engine STUPIDLY before i learned about this common mixup. the guys were nice though, they're going to pull the plugs and wires and shine a flashlight down to see the piston shape after they eat lunch. i really hope its a curved neck klze...
