Re: what muffler?

If you're doing a swap this summer, putting in a new exaust now would be a total waste of cash. Just wait till you get the new engine & have the system done then, the piping is somewhat different, better to do it once.

Re: what muffler?

If you keep the stock cat & resonator, it kind of defeats the use of a larger piping since you will still have those restrictions. You can get a high flow cat & replace the resonator with a large glass pack for a little more that what this job will cost anyway. I'd reccomend adding a flex joint as ...

Re: a lot of miles on engine

I've seen people take old beat *** VW's over 500K miles, one dude had a million!! A modern Mazda should be able to do better.

It's all about HOW you drive it. Highway miles aren't too hard on an engine so long as you keep up on the regular servicing. I'm pretty meticulous about keeping up my ...

Re: input on camshafts...

For better info on cams & how they help on the B6 motors, try the Miata forums. guys there have a LOT of expereince with that engine.

As for turbo grinds, you're gonna find that they are much milder than NA cams. Since you're dealing with a pressure fed system you need to look at duration ...

Re: Nice sounding exhaust

For the 4-cyl, you want to keep the pipe narrower to keep gas velocities up, but if you ARE going turbo later, you'll want a bigger pipe to decrease back pressure. The real difference is that with the larger pipe you'll get a better top end & high RPM fuel economy, but the smaller pipe moves the ...

Re: what muffler?

OK, couple things first. Are you running the pipe right off the cat? No cat at all, resonator, what?
Primary thing is this, what sounds good to you?
Are you one of these people (I'm being nice) that actualy likes the buzz-bomb sound of a can, or are you looking for a mellow tone?
How loud do you ...

Re: Cylinder head modifcations

That all depends on how high you take your compression ratio & what gas you run. Even with the stock gasket, shaving some off the head will raise the compression. As the B6 is already pretty fair on C/R there's not too much to play with. A minor cut shouldn't affect it too much though.

Without ...

Re: need help fast please

I know this is a rare concept, but try calling the local Mazda dealer, ask for the service department & see if they'll look it up for you. I realize it's the easy way, but hey, beats the hell outta stripping the holes & having to get them heli-coiled.

Re: how well will this work?

Off hand, looks like another rip-off product.
Your ECU, coupled with a fully functioning O2 sensor does the EXACT same thing. it automaticly adjusts the fuel flow in relation to the readings from the MAF & O2 sensor to give the optimal mixture for burn. This lil gizmo just alows you (supposedly) to ...

Re: Ummmmmm. Have we seen this yet? Eaton supercharger?

You'd have to look at the product page, but I thought there is a BOV itegrated into the kit.

As for the ECU, that was something I was wondering myself.
As well as the rest of this gear, you need at least a piggy back with a MAP sensor to boost your injector flow & retard the ignition under load ...

Re: BPT non-intercooled..

Cooling the intake charge lowers the occurance of detonation as well as ramming in a greater mass, thus making more power.
You can run any turbo system without an IC, but you have to watch for detonation. An ECU or piggy back with a knock sensor, or just proper tuning & running higher octane can ...

Re: Ummmmmm. Have we seen this yet? Eaton supercharger?

Now thats the attitude that gives the import scene such a bad rap. Went right from discussing real world racing applications to street racing.

OK, so lets follow that line for a second.
I know the limitations of my vehicles & my limitations in operating each of them (unlike the majority of the ...

Re: Ummmmmm. Have we seen this yet? Eaton supercharger?

OK, I can see the benefits in having the electric system on a car for drag racing since it's a periodic booster not a full time S/C. But what about the weight gains vs. the HP gain? Thats a LOAD of equipment added to the car for what percent power increase?
Thats a huge amount of weight gain that ...
