i have a '94 mx-3 auto. yesterday it started to heat up. the temp gauge was going crazy. when i completly stop it'l go down and up a few times.when i start going again it'll go down and it seems that the faster i go the higher the temp gauge goes what can cause this problem?

i have a '94 mx-3 1.6 dohc. my car stalled out about two weeks ago. it'll try to start but it won't. i have checked the distributor cap and rotor. they're fine. i replaced the distributor. but it still won't crank up what can possible be wrong with my car?

how can i check if my distributor has gone bad or if it still works? can i take it to a auto parts store and have them check it?
