Re: idle drops low for a second when letting off throttle.
update. ok so the problem is everytime i put an electrical draw on the system it messes everything up. so when the neutral safty switch turned on, it pulled on the motor, when the lights were on, it pulled even worse, if you had the heater and the lights on the car would idle up and down really bad ...

Re: engine searches for idle when messing with the clutch sw
the crazy thing is the motor idles just fine when in open loop. i drive it around with the tps unplugged all day long. but when you let it use all the sensors and crap in closed loop, it does this weird idle thing. maybe something with the iac but its not throwing a code?

HELP!!! clutch switch is causing erratic idle.
so i have been messing with this motor for 2 weeks now. had a mechanic friend over and he was even blown away. its a 94 mazda mx3 1.6l dohc manual trans car and this is what i have figured out so far.
it doesnt throw any codes for the problem so that makes it a pain. once the car warms up and goes ...

Re: idle drops low for a second when letting off throttle.
yeah so i think i figured it out and this is weird. so there is a neutral safety switch AND a clutch pedal switch. somewhere along the line there is a short or something cause if i release the switch the problem went away. i checked the pin out diagram and both sensors/switches go to 1 wire and when ...

Re: how do you test the maf on a 94 1.6 dohc motor.
well being that i have had a 93, a 94 and a 95, i know what i am talking about. like i said, this is an issue i have had from the get go with these cars. the mass air flow sensor in the 94 and up dohc motor is a cone type (b6bf). if you check your local online parts stores, you will see this. in 94 ...

Re: how do you test the maf on a 94 1.6 dohc motor.
no 94 and 95 1.6 mx3s use cone style mass air flow meters with a hot wire and the online manuals and my chiltons manual dont have it that way. ive had this prob with these cars from the start. same thing with the tps. the manual and automatic trans cars have the same tps but the manuals say ...

Re: idle drops low for a second when letting off throttle.
yeah but it kills the car sometimes, like if im turning. and its not really drivable. it is constantly jerking the car back and forth when driving. it does it if you let of the throttle. once the tps sensor hits idle there is a second and then it cuts. really weird.

Re: making a mx3 rwd.
yeah i am also curious on the potential power handling of the rx rear end that and are the newer ones (rx8) better. i imagine i have to look into an rx forum for that. i am starting a similar build in a couple months. i got a new job drilling so now i can afford to build the car i want. my idea is ...

i have a chiltons but it is completely wrong. it doesnt have the right info on what type of maf is in the car. it is a 5 wire cone style maf.
