Anyway ...

Re: Half shaft wont line up after tranny swap?
Okay you disconnected the lower tie rod/ball joint from the steering knuckle. This hard to put back together on some vehicles, I had no problem doing it myself on the mx-3.
Anyway what you need to do is line it up best you can, then you need to pry on the control arm until you can get the stud in ...

Re: New Owner 1992 1.6L
Okay well I have drove it around the driveway and it works, bit of squeaking but I think it is the brakes from sitting and it's been raining for days. Anyway my shifter is really hard to move around and doesn't move to all the gears without a good amount of force and is hard to get back out of the ...

Re: These parts suck!
don't install it outlaw, it only raises the resistance on the coolant temp sensor, which advances the timing, and adds more fuel....
which is fine when the engine is cold, but when it gets hot...boom.

OMG I only read down to this post. This should all be common knowledge. How much did ya pay ...

I know this way old, but use a large socket the diameter of the seal and just tap it in with a hammer until it is flush all the way around.

Re: Half shaft wont line up after tranny swap?
Not sure of why it won't or what, But I just swapped in a G-series in my 92 sohc and the passenger side axel I removed from my mx-3 sohc doesn't have the 3 bolt carrier bearing, it doesn't have one period.

Re: halfshaft question
That is all well in good, I'm not so much worried about the carrier bearing bolting to the block as I'am of the axels being the wrong lengths and not bolting up. Also you used Kia axels correct?

Re: Transmission Year Compatibility MX6-MX3
Sorry to but in and re-open this thread but I have a few questions. Is the g-series in the mx-3 v6 the same as the protege dohc 1.8 g-series tranny and are the axel splines the same 24mm etc. Meaning will axels from a 92 mx-3 v6 manual trans work in a 90 protege g-series manual trans? This trans is ...

Re: halfshaft question
No problem, I hope to figure this axel problem out tomorrow but afraid shops won't be open if I need welding done. Good luck man and if you need anything from a 1990 protege just LMK and it's cool to have connects on parts, I have something close but only free 1 out of 10-12 times :( and on small ...

Re: halfshaft question
Well if I can get my axel situation worked out and get my g-series tranny going in my mx-3 then if you need the sohc passenger axel(mine doesn't have the 3-bolt carrier bearing thing that the protege axel does halfshaft or whatever you call it) I will sell it to you for like $20 + shipping it's in ...

Re: halfshaft question
I would say use the axels for your car and your transmission the 22mm axels. I just swapped a 90 protege lx bp-ze g-series tranny into my mx-3 b6 sohc (kind of the opposite of what your doing.) and my protege driver side axel is a bit to short, so I'm trying to figure this out to finish the swap ...

Re: New Owner 1992 1.6L
Well I got the g-series tranny up and installed this morning w/ the protege lx clutch kit. I got the passenger side driveaxel installed and seems like it will work. However now my slave cylinder is leaking clutch fluid maybe the bleeder got opened somehow not sure. Any hoo the driver side axel from ...

Re: New Owner 1992 1.6L
It's all good guys, live and learn. I mean there is no teacher like experience I've done many transmissions on different models I've done several of them like these mainly escorts pre-97's and post 97's done dodge avenger's with the v6 auto, my supra. It is my fault. If I would have taken the clutch ...
