I have a different problem at the moment - my gear box died - and it's a second gear box so I'm afraid I won't get the chance of trying different ratios (costs to much) - at the moment I'm trying to find Any GEARBOX that is tougher than the OEM one.

How long is a peice of string.
14.5 for a daily driver is not shabby considering the gross weight of a 323/protege is
just over the 1000kg mark.
One low cost feature that will lower your times is travel limit straps on the front suspension.

I can't remember the socket size however for the new knock sensor you need to cut a
slot in the socket to allow the wiring out while tightening / torquing otherwise use
a crowsfoot spanner..

.050 and also intake and exhaust opening and closing BDTC ATDC and all that jazz.
I know a number of sites list figures how ever they are not matching mine?
The camshafts will exchange however I do not ...
