The TPS is your throttle position sensor. It is located on the throttle body. A little plastic black box with 3 or 4 wires going to it, depending on type of transmission. Yours is most likely a 3 wire as you indicated you have a manual tran.

It is on mine, even though mine is a 4 banger. It's simple to check , just unplug it and turn on the key and see if you can hear your fuel pump kick in or not. Hope this helps.

Forgive me if I am misunderstanding your post, but it sounds by your description like you have a weak or dying battery. If your battery is weak you will not have enough power to run your fuel pump.
