How new a 626 manual tranny can I use in a KLZE swap?

I've decided to spend a little for the longer-geared 5-speed tranny to replace the original on my MX-3 as I swap a KL-ZE for the K8 engine. The junkyard (sorry: auto recycling center) here doesn't happen to have a mid-90s V6 MX-6 or 626 with a manual transmission that I can grab, but it has more recent 626's. Would one of those do the trick? What years of the 626 work? (The price will be the same no matter which I pick, so if all of them are interchangeable I guess I'll just take the one with the lowest mileage.)
Thanks.

I would recommend 98-02. some speculate that it has better cut gears/stronger syncros or something of the sort. Anyways, it's got the potential to be stronger.
