Ok I just decided to buy NEW rotors and NEW pads and what do I get for my hard work and money, brakes screaming their tits off when I am simply driving without applying the brakes at all.
All I did was clean all surfaces, sanded back and greased the sliding pins since they were pretty gunked, then new rotors and pads. I had to compress the big round piston to make the new pads fit since they hard significantly more meat on them. I don't understand, is that piston meant to spring in and out of position really easily? Because it doesn't. All I can think of is that it's stuck forward and keeping the brakes near the rotor but I have no idea how it's meant to work. My rotors felt very hot to touch after driving but not sure if that's normal or not?
Nothing really squealed before, only when I turned right heavily it would make some noise but now it's non stop.
Some advice is needed

Re: Screaming Squealing brakes
did you leave something lodged between the rotor and the backing plate or just plain not enough space?

I'll give you the win my friend! Dust shield or whatever it's called was just a tiny bit too close that it contacted the rotor and made a hell of a noise! Just used the spoon to pry it back a little and seemed to 100% fix the issue!Sleeper6 wrote:did you leave something lodged between the rotor and the backing plate or just plain not enough space?
Full points for imagination!kulluminati777 wrote:uh.....you ran over a screaming cat and scooped away the evidence with a spoon?

Re: Screaming Squealing brakes
Glad it was just the dust cover, last time my brakes were squealing I ended up replacing the calipers on one corner because they stopped working

Re: Screaming Squealing brakes
yeah I had the same issue with the dust covers one time. My bearing were bad on both sides so I changed out my hubs because we couldnt get the wheel bearings out. The thing was rusted so bad it fused to the hub. The mech i took my hubs to so he could press out the bearings and press new ones in even broke his press trying to get them out but that is a different story. Anyway I snagged new hubs from an escort at the PnP. Bolted everything up took it for a test drive and was horrified by this screaming metal sound. I was thinking I paid for bad hubs or something and would have to take EVERYTHING back off and did all that work and running around town to get a guy to press my hubs for nothing but lucky both dust covers had got bent in a tad somehow
