Brake lines that are stuck

Post by WhiteFinish »

So who has some tips to get this loose?

These things have a 10mm wrench, but they are so stuck that the wrench slips over it and rounds the edges.

+1
That's what i did with the bleeder screws, just put on some vicegrips so tight that you pretty much need to do it with pliers just to get the vice grip on.

What is a brake line spanner? How is it different from a regular wrench?

Called a flare nut wrench here.

Heating the distribution block that they are screwed into will help.

Are you asking about the brake lines themselves, or where they mount to the subframe?

If it's the subframe, grind the edges super flat and use an adjustable crescent style wrench to hurk it off.

In that case...

Torch + Vicegrip pliers. Replace with factory hardware from a different car, use anti-seize in the future...

With some vice grips I've got them loose.
Don't know how to reapply them because it got stripped.
