Would be my first choice if I wasn't so poor. I'll be running Hankook RS-3's.

I meant with the 195/55/r15 fitment. Should I give it a go?

it'll be perfectly fine, you can run 205/55/R15 and still have room. With this size your speedo will be correct as well (or very close that it doesn't really make a difference)

Hi,

205/55R15 is the correct stock tire size for the GS. 195s, in any profile are 1/2" narrower. Why would you want to give up width and weight rating?

From personal experience, 205/50R15 tires work great, although they make the spedometer off by about 3%. The good side is that you can feel the difference in acceleration - the shorter tires give lower effective gearing.

225/50R15s would do good things for handling, but require at least 7" wheels to work well. (again from personal experience; they work ok on the street with 6" wheels, but are the pits for autocrossing on the same 6" wheels - they roll over and are unpredictable!). 225s look cool though, they're 3/4" wider than the stock tires.

205/50R15 is correct for RS's speedo if anyone was wondering, stock size for RS is 185/65R14

Actually, a 195/50R15 is 3.4% smaller diameter than a 185/6514 and will read that much fast on an RS. 889rpm/mile vs 859 for the 185s. and yes, the 185/65R14s are stock RS.

205/55R15 is stock for the GS. A 225/50R15 is EXACTLY the same diameter, 849 rpm/mile, but needs a wider rim, probably 7" minimum, and 8 would work great. 6" is really too narrow even for the stock tires. Note that the MX-6, with the same tires, came with a 6.5" rim. Mazda cheaped-out on us, or maybe just didn't want MX-3s to outshine their more expensive cars.

Thats the issue, I cant find a good performance tire for my 205/55/R15 Set up. Dunlop Star Specs and Falken Direzzas dont come in that size. This is why i was gonna opt for 195/55/R15. Whats a good tire that I can pick up that I can drive on the street and take to the track??
