Hi,

So my bpt mx3 sometimes has a slight hesitation under acceleration. Slight oil burn, I think from turbo into downpipe. Also it sometimes stalls out just after starting, but once it is running for a few minutes it is fine accept the slight hesitation I mentioned.

Also during warm up I hearing a rattling.

Thoughts and suggestions are welcome. Spending money needs to be avoided if possible

Thanks

check the fuel pressure regulator and the vac lines to it as well check for cracks and small tears also check your intake manifold for air leaks unmetered

Added a quart of oil and replaced valve cover breather with a line to just before the turbo and now I am smoking from the front and back. I will lower the oil a little tonight, but the ticking now only lasts second and I didn't notice any hesitation.

The oil could be oil blow by depending on how many miles you have on your system. I found that the BP PCV's were not strong enough for the boost and I swapped to a B6T from the 323 GTX, others have changed to Toyota Supra PCV which is metal. Also a oil catch can would stop this as well. I ran a small inline clear fuel filter between the PCV and the Intake manifold, it was catch the oil if I had any blowby.

Also what size injectors are you running? and how is your VAF mounted? these vaf's are sensitive and should be mounted as flat as possible.

Sorry for the ?'s but it will help.

Bpt injectors came with the motors
Vaf is somewhat level but is on an angle
I had the engine out a little over a year ago and things look great inside, replaced gaskets and valvle stem seals. Pcv has been replaced and I might have used a late 80s protege pcv. One valve had a slight crack and was replaced.

I will most likely remove about a third of a liter of oil tonight.

Well I would think that the IAC on the throttle body might be sticking or need cleaning. could cause it to die if the car is cold. The VAF should be ok but if the angle is to great it can cause the flap to close and rattle, if it is cold it could cause it to die.

what a mess oil it blew past many of the seals, into the turbo and onto the exhaust. But removing about. 5 liter and driving for a few seems to have cleaned things up.
