Green Cotton Air Filter

Hi, I recently bought this filter, but I don't really know how to it properly, its not as simple as the old K&N fitting.
I have searched the site and can't find any information on fitting this particular filter apart from the fact that you need to drill a hole in the filter for the pressure pipe, but I'm no mechanic so I want to make sure I get exact instructions before I mess up my car!
Basically I was wondering if anyone on the site has fitted this filter before? If so could you help me out a bit?
I've spent £70 on this and I really want to get it fitted, so any help much appreciated!!
Thanks!

Not sure of which filter your refering too but you shouldn't have to add any holes! Post a pic of the filter and we can probably guide you in the right direction

Thanks for the quick reply, here is what they say to do in the instructions:

It just doesn't seem that clear to me though...
I was expecting to just undo a screw, take the old filter off and screw on the new one...I guess its not that simple!

If we're talking about the fuel pressure regulator solenoid, I'd rip it off and throw it in the trash. It's completely unneccesary, and it's a PITA to find a place for it when you go to a cold air intake.

my car kept cutting out when i disconnected it:
heres a pic .... excuse the engine bay i'm in the process of sorting it:
this is the part you need to take off your airbox and relocate. then all you do is just hook up the cone filter to the black tubing

away you go

I had the Cotton Green filter-kit before.
Easy to install, dont have to create ANY holes.
Just follow the instructions.
Basically you just remove the stock box, and put the new filter (with the elastic tube) onto the MAF, and tighten it down with the supplied band.
VERY easy

Might be a small hole on the bottom of the filter for the small "plug" wich the hose that previously went to the stock airbox should be connected too.
4 years since I used this, so I dont remember all that well

If you disconnect it, yoiu have to route a piece of vacuum hose from the cylinder 6 intake runner vacuum port directly to the adjacent fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail end. Then, it should run fine. I've taken it out of a few MX3 V6 with American and Japanese ECU's. All it does is helps with less customer complaints about a warm restart taking an extra crank or two.

Do you have a pic of what you mean?

that would be really helpful

I created my own CAI but had the same issue with that vac hose. You just hook the vac hose that sticks out 90 degrees from the sensor to the fuel pressure regulator and take the bottom vac line and attach it to the inlet near by on the IM. If you have to remove the cruise control vac line from either one of these...as I have seen on some cars, then just tie it in to the larger hose just after the TB with a T connector

Thanks for the help guys, great stuff
I have removed the old box etc and I now have the new filter fitted, but I still don't really understand what to do with the tube from the solenoid valve that used be connected to the air box...
Do I need to connect this to the air filter or something else?
Sorry if I'm being a bit dumb, i'm not the best mechanic in the world!
Thanks!

Your not being dumb. First tell me where your vac hoses lead to that are attached to your fuel regulator which is attached to the fuel rail just to the side of the disty on your IM. Also then notice there is a vac hose on the IM beside that...where does it lead?

Cheers man, I'm not really sure what the fuel regulator looks like... I think I located the fuel rail on the IM though...what do the vacuum hoses look like and is the diameter about 1 inch? Do you have a picture of it?
Here is a picture of my engine at the moment:
Do I not have to connect the loose tube in my hand to anything?
Thanks a lot!
