i just put in a new sound system in my 93 4 cylinder mx-3
it has 3 12" subs powered by 2 amps
what ive noticed is that everytime i blast it the lights dim
and my cars battery ends up been dead the next day and i have to jump start it
this get annoying when your already late for work
i no i need a new battery, but im afraid itll just drain the new one as well
and ill have to end up buying a heavier alternator anyways
so i was wondering if anyone knew if there are any more powerful alternators
that came stock in the mx6s or the probes i can check out thatll fit my mx-3
thanks in advance :D
oh by the way im using a 1200 watt amp to power the two 12" rockford subs
and a 460 watt amp to power the third 12" as well as a 240 watt alpine deck

Wattage in an amp really doesnt matter, its the Amps drawn.

Id suggest 1st getting a cap, maybe a Optima Yellow top as a battery replacement.

Word has it that the k8 alternator will fit if you have the bolts and a bracket but the RS alternator is a PITA to get out of the bay. This will bring you up to 90 amps as opposed to 70 amps.

if you do change your alternator the easiest thing i can tell you is jack up the car unbolt your exhaust from the header and drop it down your alt. will just slide through the bottom a bit more work but alot simpler (you'll also save your knuckles this way)

yeah i had the same problem too. My baterie was old and fried. As soon as i got a new one, it was fine. I have a GS tho. Soon you won't be able to boost your batterie anymore so get a new one quickly.
