If you look at the panels that are around the back seats. There are plastic inserts that just clip in. I found four of them. And removed them and it stopped the anouying rattles. So I just used a style of playdo stuff (high heat), and then put em back in.

I had the same problem. But my friend solved it by puting some tape around the "loop" at the hatch that locks the hatch. Don't put too much around though.

Hope that helps.

Ck your center brake light housing too. Mounts with two bolts that can loosen over time. Drove me nuts for a month or two til I could tell where the rattle was. There was also a Tech Svc. Bulletin from Mazda on repairing a rear hatch/hinge prob w some '93 MX-3's.

It may be your jack which is in the right rear behind the removeable panel as you look at the hatch from the rear. It may come loose from it's perch and just has to be expanded to sit tight again. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys. Its sorted.......The catch that holds the rear seats in place was coming loose.Fixed it by hamering the bracket down.
