Taking apart tails

This forum is for discussion of topics relating to MX-3 lighting such as Headlights, Tail lights, Accessory Lights, Interior Lights, Etc. For example, Rear Euro Altezza Style Tail lights, Headlight units, LED's, HID's, Bulbs, Interior lights, Neons, Strobes, Auxillary Lights/Fogs or anything filament and gas discharge related.
Also anything dealing with the elctrical system.

Ive got the ugly civic look altezzas and one of them leaks terribly, what id like to do is remove the lens and after converting them to black , resealing them myself... my question is, do i remove the lens the same and some have done with civic projectors... just put them in the oven ??? and if thats how its done,, what temp. and for how many minutes? I dont really wanna melt my tail lights :p

Search for the procedure to do this on the headlights, Id follow those instructions.

Yeah, baking recipies were posted before. You have to be careful though, tailights were not designed to withstand the high heat that the headlights are. So I would lower the temperature a bit. I can't remember exactly, but I baked my headlights at 200-225F for 8-10minutes. Make sure it is on the baking sheet. Preheat the owen.

DO NOT put the headlights in the oven with it turned on

preheat to 200-250 and then TURN OFF THE OVEN. then put headlights in for 5-8 minutes...remove and pry those ******es off. U might need to repeat a couple of times per side.

If you put them in with the oven on, it will melt the housing, ev en if the oven is set lower at 175-200. I melted the crap out of one of my supra-style lights with the oven on 175 and putting them in there for 8 minutes.
