HVAC lighting issue

Hey guys,

I've been having a problem with some of my dash lights going off and on. These include the HVAC lights and the cruise control and hazard button lights.

I'm installing my indiglo HVAC panel right now which really just makes the stock HVAC lighting useless anyway. But I still don't want the lights on my cruise control and hazard light buttons going out intermittently.

Most times, the HVAC lights will not come on when I turn on the lights. I need to kinda bang the passenger side of the center dash panel to get them to come back on again. They also go out sometimes when I adjust the temp control. And again, banging the dash panel a couple times will make them come back on... or simply moving the temp control back and forth.

I have the dash trim off right now but it seems difficult to get a look behind the panel without taking the whole dash apart. Can anyone suggest what the problem might be and what I should look for?

Thanks in advance for your help...

Sounds like a horrible connection. What did you splice the HVAC's into?

I Just installed mine an hour ago and i just plugged them into the 4th plug on the indiglo gauge harness. I can't remember if you had any indiglos in your car though.

But for my indiglos's, i spliced them directly into the dimmer switch using some crimp butt-connectors. I forget which wire though.

Wil, it's not the indiglos I'm having problems with... it's the stock lighting that is going off and on. The stock HVAC lighting, cruise control and hazard light buttons all seem to be connected somehow. And now that my indiglo faceplate is on, the only stock lights left on the dashboard are the ones for the cruise control and hazard light buttons.

So you see, I don't want to have to keep banging the side of the center console to make those lights come on.

Btw, the face plate looks really good with my silver dash trim, IMO. Pictures to come.

I had a similar problem a year ago, all those light on my car would go out. The reason they go out is because they share a fuse. Something kept blowing them all out, i finally figured out that it was my cigarette lighter was blowing it up. Dont really know why i just disconnected the cig lighter, problem solved.
