HELP PLZ READ

Hey Guys...ok here's my HUGE problem.

My car (93' GS)has been sitting since late Nov and has only been started twice since then. That was b/c of the cold, but I did try to start her many times, but she wouldn't turn over b/c of the -40C temp. But the other day I got it started! And it was awsome! But when I went back a few days later (to tune things up and get her ready for the body shop) I got nothing....I mean no sound what so ever!! Nothing! My lights and everything else work, but the engine makes NO sounds. So I didn't know where to start. I tried buying a new battery...that didn't work. I tried replacing the 100amp Main fuse (I figured, if the starter gets no power..that this must be it!) I was wrong...

That was today that I replaced the battery and fuse...but still got NO response :( I also got new plugs, but that shouldn't have anything to do with the engine acting like I'm not even there! And I have NO idea what to try now :(

Any ideas???.....I have to bring it to the shop this week! I'm booked in, but if I can't get it started I can't put it into gear, therefore I cannot get it there!!!

Help PLZZZZ

The Mazda Boys won't even come down to look at it!...b/c they won't have the "proper tools" to diagnose it... :sadwavey:

Why'd you replace the battery if they lights were still turning on?

First question is, was the engine turning over? If not, look at starter fuse under the hood. If good, I'd suspect the starter.

check the starter, it only hs 2 wires going to it.

the big one with the nut on it should hve power all the time. if no power, check the main starter fuse.

the small one that is pushed on should hve power only when cranking. if no power my be an ignition switch, clutch switch or nutral safty switch.

make sure the terminals are all clean and tight.

Thx Guys..
1) I decided to replace the battery b/c I kind of needed one anyways, plus it's a spiral cell so I can mount it anywhere.
2) Ok when you look at the fuse box under the hood on the left side 3rd fuse down it should read "main" 100a and that's the one I replaced with no results.
3) Yes all winter long it would crank (turn over) but would not start. Where as now I get absolutly NO sound in any way shape or form. The only sound that I get when I turn the key are the headlights turning on (little click from the passengers side) Other than that I get nothing!!!! This only started to happen after the one time that she started for me when the temp. outside got warmer.
4) So where is this ignition switch (couldn't hurt to check). And how can I check the starter (just look at those two wires?)

Thx Again,

use a 12v test light.

but one end to the negitive of the battery, then put the other end to the big wire where it attaches to the starter, it should light up.

then with some one cranking the car put the end to the small wire conector, it should also light up.

if they both light up it needs a starter.

try tapping on the starter with a hammer with some one cranking, if it starts it needs a starter

Swet thx...but doesn't a starter usually make noise when it's toast? I mean I can't even crank it, I get no sound! Like I'm not even there!...

Cold Start Problems that I've went through--check these out:

Spark Plugs/Wires
Distributor
*Coolant Sensor*
*o2 Sensor*

Most likely it's a combination of the last two.

chanko all of your point would be if the engine wouldnt start even if it getting cranked, since his engine wont even crank those points dont matter.

If the starter is dead you get NO sound. Like curt suggested try to tap the starter with a rubbermallet while someone gives it some juice by turning the ignition. You got any alarm that could spook the electrics/imobilizer?

ps. Whats a spiral cell  ds.

If it's just the starter and it's a manual, you should see if you can push start it.

Ok...I have an idea!
Since my car is not at my place I need someone out there to look at the fuse box inside their car. I am looking for a starter fuse on the inside of the car. I didn't even think to look in there! A buddy of mine just mentioned it to me! My question...is there any kind of starter related fuse on the inside fuse box?

Thx,
gotta go,

Tyson

Sorry, no, there isn't. The only fuse involved is the 100A under the hood.
