I won an auction for a pair of 600W 6x9 speakers.
ebay ad says that Paypal is prefferred method of payment. Good, that's the only way I do online spending.
So when I tried to paypal the money I got a notice that he doesn't accept paypal from non-US residents. It says nowhere in his ad that as a Canadian my money would be refused. Can I terminate the deal without getting a hassle do you think? And while I can't say that this guy is totally in the wrong, shouldn't he have said something about this in his ad???
6x9's I won

ive had this problem in the past too darren. i tried paying via paypal but the seller wouldnt accept it from nonverified accounts (which include almost all canadian accounts) i really dont see what the big deal is in accepting money from canadian accounts. i went thru a few weeks of talking to ebay because the idiot insisted i pay another way, when there was no way i was going to. hopefully you got an understanding seller and he wont report you at the least

okay here's what happened....I am a verified paypal user but appearantly that's not the same as having a confirmed address....that is only available in the US at this time. I was unaware there was a difference. He only accepts paypal from "confirmed" payers.
So I registered with BidPay...it's through Western Union if you've never heard of it. Works exactly like Paypal only you pay BidPay using debit or credit card, they make a money order and send it to the seller within 24hrs or so. Costs an extra few dollars but whatever...I'm getting new speakers.

I have been through that too, and because of two of these incidents my ebay account got suspended so i didnt even bother and opened a new account under another name. And as of then i will ask any seller about the terms of shipping to Canada since i cant afford to lose feedbacks as i literaly live on ebay, 300+ feedbacks.
If anyone wants anything, i might be able to buy it for them if they dont have sufficient feedbacks to purchase a certain item.

Actually Bidpay is better than Paypal. With Paypal, if you don't purchase the insurance, your not guaranteed your refund. If the seller don't have funds in their account, nothing Paypal will do. With Bidpay, your already insured, and get a refund if the seller pays or not. Bidpay goes after them, not you.

alot of people dont know that PAYPAL will offer protection for sellers shipping to canada, but only canada and the Us. you still have to confirm your address, just do it they're going to mail you a letter, its not like donating blood or anything.

turns out I'm having other problems with a different seller. I bid on and won a set of 4pt harnesses and over a month later I'm still waiting. I've contacted them a few times and they are clueless.....have to phone them now.
