I know they use water injection in diesels, because the water molecule traps in an incredible # of air molecules, which in turn lowers your intake temperature and kinda forces more air into the intake charge. However my buddy was thinking of doing this with his mustang years ago, and even then I just though that injecting water into the engine was a bad idea.

thats basically the same as meth injection isn't it? That's used on boosted cars lots to allow you to run more boost without detonating. I wonder if you'd see any gain on a NA car at all. It'd surely cool the intake charge. You can substitute meth for window washer fluid (not shitting you).

I thought about various ways to cool the air, too. My opinion is that you wouldn't gain anything by using the A/C to cool the intake because of what it would take to run it. I even re-routed the winshield washer sprayer to misters on the IM, before I learned about the thermo spacers. It worked, but I was afraid of warping something.

I believe you need an Government issued Ozone Depletion card to buy any "freon" including R134A. Kinda like the card I have. These are controlled substances and the fines are huge if your caught. They are ozone depleters and contribute to global warming. CTC is probably selling that refrigerant substitute. It's a hydrocarbon product as far as I know.

From what I remember, I think that for every 10 degrees you cool your intake charge you gain 1 hp.

mmm I should get some liquid oxygen hooked up and shoot that into my engine...HP gain for sure! LOL Basically my car would run on rocket fuel...

I'm pretty sure you are kidding... but for anyone who does not know.. this WILL cause detonation. Big bang, new engine.

Yes, need cryo tank and converter. Place to mount tank and on/off valve. Then when you blow your set up and get sprayed watch your skin boil off your body. Please post on Utube when that happens and place link here.

This is an extremley rich mixture.
14.7 parts air to 1 part gas is known as stoichiometric.
11.8-1 is rich best torque.
12.3-1 is lean best torque.

Water/methanol injection is a very effective way to cool an intake charge, ask me how i know.
You can use meth injection on an Na car, its activated via vacuum and not boost.
Currently ive bumped my distributor to 17* and am running 13 psi on a t3/t04e with no knock.

Actually you can purchase r134a in any auto parts store.

How is injection set up? How do you keep the timing, without it going back to 10 BTDC?

I drilled and tapped the upper intercooler pipe, the system begins to spray at 2 psi and is at 100% duty cycle at 11 psi.
I just advanced the Disty with a timing light.

As I understand it, on a chemichal basis, for every unit of gasoline, eight units of oxygen are burned. When the temperature rises in the intake, air expands and less of everything makes in into the intake, as the particles are further apart. So why not just pump pure oxygen into the intake? Doesn't matter what temperature the oxygen is, as long as it is in excess in the reaction happening inside the chamber, you may even get some more power, as the O2 sensor will read rich, and give you some more fuel
Ryan,
This does nothing but make the car run terriable I already tried this thinking the same thing long before I stumbled on this post I live with someone who has oxgyen and all the hoses and a regulator to do this and NO THE MOTOR DIDN"T GO BOOM!!! but ran horriable and tripped a CEL. so I cut it off and it everthing cleared up.
Personally I could give a damn about the enviroment but freon does seem a bit extreme I really liked the Idea of CO2 keep in mind that co2 has a boilling point of -40 degrees Farienheight so as long as your in a area that's above -40 it will produce extreamly cold air frost and all other types of frozen things but for all the enviromentalist out there co2 is a green house gas...

that is the dumbest thing I've ever heard
there are plenty of people much smarter than you, working on cars for much longer....why do you think no one has ever done this before...because they just never thought of it?
even if you sprayed C02 on a sleeve on the intake manifold it woldn't make a noticable difference and would just be a waste of time.
