does anyone know how to do this?

Post by se7en »

okay, my car runs perfect for about 2 minutes after I start it(doesn't run lean at all)

then it seems like the stock ecu wants to run leaner. I think that the ecu tells the injectors to run rich at first to warm the engine up.

is there a way to trick it into always being in that mode?

is it called diagnostic mode?.hmmm

unplug the o2 sensor and it will run in limp mode ...

Or get a O2 clamp - http://www.flyinmiata.com/support/instr ... switch.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

ya. I already unpluged the o2 sensor. that didn't help...I will make a o2 clamp thingy tomorrow and try that.

since v6 engines have 2 o2 sensors you might have to clamp them both to see any effect.....

Besides - you said you have a WBO2 for the front bank and NBO2 for rear (which goes to the ecu) right?
What did you do with the wire for front bank O2 sensor - did you leave it hanging? The ECU might be trying to average readings from both banks and maybe thats why you are having problems - just a thought.....

my wideband doesn't go to the ecu. just to the gauge.

I just unpluged the rear o2.(it was broken anyway)

I don't have any idea how to get your car to always run like it does when it first starts, but I expect initially your choke is on, then the ECU turns it off and that's when you start running lean.
Electronic choke ftw.

When you unplug the connectors - did you just leave it hanging? You might want to try grounding the sensor wire for both banks - If you have a stable enough ground that will definitely put up a code in the ecu and make it run in limp mode....

Well remember that normally your rear o2 sensor is a catalyst monitor/fine tune AFR.
Unplug your first O2 sensor and see if that helps, also try running a resistor with the CLT temp sensor, it should trick the motor into thinking that its still warming up and will thus add more fuel.

The V6 engines have two banks of cylinders - front and rear and has an O2 sensor for each bank (before the cat). The cat monitor comes in later models - possibly obd2.

okay, I know that they are 3 sensors in the water neck, but which one is the one to put the resister in?

okay, I found the one I need, I will try a resistor(10000 ohms) in that wire tonite.

If that works, I love you nos92mx3! (Not for real, but you will be my hero for a day for sure.)
