A few swap questions

Post by booya »

I have a 92 MX3 and am getting close to starting the swap. Motor's already out of the MX3, bay painted etc... I'm hoping you guys can fill in the gaps with parts I'm missing?

I have:
- 93 LX BP Motor
- G-Series Transmission
- Shift Linkage from an Escort GT - Do I need this? Will my MX3 one work?
- ECU from same Escort GT
- Driveshafts on order
- Spec Stage 2 Clutch and Aluminum Flywheel
- New Valve Cover Gasket, Rear Main, Oil Pan Gasket
- New Timing Belt.

Are there any other parts I am missing that I can't get from my MX3? Is there any thing else I should change on the motor while its out of the car?

Any tips would be great.
Thanks

- G-Series Transmission(u'll need the bp flywheel& clutch & get the top trans mount. or will be looking for it beacsue ur mx-3 top trans mount won't work.)Limegreen MX-3

- Shift Linkage from an Escort GT - ( MX3 will work.)Limegreen MX-3

- ECU from same Escort GT ( i get a protege lx/gt ecu and harness makes the wireing part plug & play.) (by plug & play i mean no splicing or cutting.) Limegreen MX-3

- Driveshafts on order ( u'll need driver/passenger axles & the half shaft from protege lx/gt or Escort GT)Limegreen MX-3

- Spec Stage 2 Clutch and Aluminum Flywheel (hope there for the BP engine.)Limegreen MX-3

- New Valve Cover Gasket, Rear Main, Oil Pan Gasket ( they don't come with a oil pan gasket just 2 arc rubber seals the rest u i'll need to use a gasket maker. done it many times pain in the a-- to do if it don't leck no need to replace.) (rear main seal i replace.) Limegreen MX-3

- New Timing Belt. ( i replace along with the cam gear seals) Limegreen MX-3
UR MX-3 motormounts driver side and ur front and rear trans mount will work with the BP. ur top trans mount will not work with the g-series trans.

But next time do a serch i know ur new only 4 post but members here will bash u for not even attemping to do a serch. this swap has been explain 100's of times and posted in the 4cly FAQ.

The oil pan has two banana-shaped gaskets... one on each side. Otherwise, you use RTV sealant around the oil pan.

Also, you should swap out that water pump while the motor is out, as well as the front Main seal.

Good luck!

I already removed the AC compressor. My car doesn't have it. How hard would it be to convert?

The front main seal and water pump I will look into as well.

Anyone ever tried the Weapon R Secret Intake System?

Thanks again

if ur getting rid of ur AC system then forget what i said about the compresser bracket. less weight u have to worry about.

the front main seal u;ll need to remove the crank gear i thing its hard the water pump is easy to do. these things u need to replace are even easier with the engine out the car.

my opinion the Weapon R Secret Intake System ur just wasteing money on a Name product. ur better of buying a alm. piping for a civic that they sell and auto parts store and modify it to work with ur MX-3. just my 2 cents. I made my own.
