m.a.f. before or after the turbo?
Right now i have it running b4 the turbo at the filter. im not getting enuph sucktion to run my maf so iwas thinking to run it after the turbo. only consern is that im being told by a local sorce that i shouldnt run my intake any larger than 2 1/4in. So if i put it after the turbo the intake will obviously have to be larger. i see the pics of people running it after so whats truly the best way. oh and turbo is brand new.

ok that makes NO sence, your not getting enough suction to make your MAF work?
then how does it work on a N/A motor? eh, and if you whernt getting enough "suction" to make it work, then your car wont run.

The MAF MUST be ran like this......
air filter-----MAF----turbo----intercooler----BOV---throttlebody.

ya i red that post and i have seen the pics going the other way. the car will only run right now if you push the plunger down manually wile someone else turns it over. my turbo just isnt sucking enuph air to suck the plunger down. thats why i was aking.

Not enough suction on a turbo inlet?! The one turbo inlet i had an encounter with - almost sucked my hand into it. Even my N/A DOHC suction is perceptible.
Well are you sure that there are no leaks between the MAF and the turbo? Is this your stock MAF? Have you tried adjusting the MAF? Have you tried another MAF?

One thing i have noticed, and thought about is the tube that runs from the throttle body to the intake. Thats part of the Idle Air Control valve. That you WOULD want to reroute so that it sucks right before the MAF sensor on your turbo setup. Because if you think about it, that small tube (if connected to far after the MAF) wont pull enough air (right after startup) through all the lengh of plumbing to make the MAF adguest the airflow correctly. I noticed this when I installed my cold air intake. I had The Idle Air Control valve tube connected about 4 inchs befor the throttle body and my MAF was about 4 feet after that, It would cause it to almost die right after start up. I would always have to rev it up to get the airflow moving. My Point being That on a turbo setup with the MAF sensor mounted before the turbo you would want that tube (Idle Air Control) mounted Between the Turbo and The MAF, so that your idle will not be affected. This would generally only affect your start up i belive because after a few seconds on startup the IAC adjests in acorrandce with the MAF. Hope this enlightens this subject a bit.
