well it doesnt look like if it was leaking fluids..it has alot of miles then again kine has around 210k miles and works fine. When they leak you can see it in the shaft holes..but this one isnt stained..has the fork in there..you need the clutch kit of course. check his feedback and well go for it..its only 100 dlls. Keep your stock tranny for reference. Make sure he priobides some sort of warranty or at least that it works. when u get i would adviced change the fluid.

83k is a fair mileage on our tranny. mine is pushing 220k and running well. However... If you're swapping in the 1.8l V6, go with an MX-3 transmission. If you're going 2.5, then that tranny is suitable. The difference is in the gearing. The 2.5's tranny is geared longer than the K8's (mx-3). Here's what this means to you... with the 2.5's tranny, you'll run at lower RPM and have higher top speeds in each gear, but it'll feel a bit more sluggish due to the longer gearing. The 2.5's tranny will however give you a bit better gas mileage. The mx-3's tranny will have you doing 60mph right around 3000-3100 RPM, whereas the 2.5's will be around 2700-2850 if I'm not mistaken.. The mileage difference is minor, but the feel of the power is noticable between the two. Good luck!

Daniel

BTW, there are a few 2.5 trannies here in Nashville for about $100 with about 100-130k miles, if i recall correctly.. email me privately at georgechicken@yahoo.com for details if you're interested.... 2.5 motors too..

nope, the probe gt's tranny is identical to the mx3's in gearing.

only the mx6/626 2.5 manual trans has the taller final drive.
