G force body kit pics cont...

Post by HRO »

For some reason when I reply to the post below, it does not bump ahead.
Click here to see pervious posts

Thanks everyone,
for some reason my user name 'Subjekt' is now unregistered, so my new name is 'mx3vs'.
with the 1.5 drop, I can barely go anywere, getting in and out of places I go pretty much perpendicular to the entrence or exit, some times a 3pt. turn is needed to get at the correct angle. the gforce kit is very low.
If you get the 1" drop you be in the same boat as me, just be careful and take your time in driveways

Hey EBUCKS was your gforce kit as crappy quality as mine. I had air pockets in between the gelcoat and the first layer of fiberglass, there is like 4-5 hours in getting the front bumper perfect. Did you have the same problem?? I also had to put more layers of fiberglass in some places to make it more sturdy.

Man I didn't really care after a while. I put it on and just said phuck it! From a distance it looks kewl. But when you get close up it looks like shite. What I hate the most is the driver's side corner by the light sticks out.
Luckily I had my body guy do all of that extra for me.
The side skirts were another story. The passenger side is shorter than the drivers side and it doesn't fit. I used urethane to glue the side skirts on and for reinforcement I used a few self tapping screws to hold the skirts in place. Next week I'm going to put body filler over top of the screws and edges of the skirt and then have my body guy paint. The skirt is going to look molded into the body of the car.
My question for you is how did you get the skirts to just stick there? Please don't say that you held the skirt in place inch by inch for an hour at a time. :D
I'd still recommend the kit though. I saw DVH's Pak front end and there's a big gap under the head light. It still looks sweet though.
Also if anyone cares about safety, you can keep the plastic bumper underneath. That bumper also holds up the bumper cover as only 6 screw hold it on.
one

My Side skirts are screwed along the door seam (inside) and in the rear wheel well and the front wheel well. There were huge gaps in between the sides and the car, so I had to mold the sides to the cars lines (but I didn't want to mould the sides to the car...cause I didn't want the repaint the whole car)
The passenger side had about a 1 inch gap infront of the door. so I had to cut it off and fiberglass a whole new piece. the whole kit process was very long and took many weeks.
my rear bumper wasn't as bad as the front, and not much work needed to be done to it, except around the tail lights. I also had to put the lisence plate light in (but that wasn't too bad).
did you just use fog lights as your turn signals??
you only need about 7 screws per side skirt, (3 in door seam and 2 at either end)
Put them in the wheel wells so they are hidden, and you don't have to screw into the side of your car (perventing rust)

btw, hook me up with some pics when you get it all done.
[ September 20, 2002: Message edited by: mx3vs ]
