Post How-to nissan injectors and modded rails
how to install nissan injectors in stock rail

Now many of you knows you can obtain 550cc injectors for cheap (even higher for other injector) but nobody knows how to do it. well this how-to knows it all or almost

First don't go jump all out on theses injectors. You'll need to be boosted in order to use them. you need some kind of aftermarket fuel management system to use them. Megasquirt is a good idea.

first thing you need to do is bore th stock fuel rail. The bore has to be cut to 0.990"
Image.

Next the top part of the rail needs to be cut down 0.205" because the nissan injectors is smaller (in length but beefier in width)
Image.

These are the only mod you need to do to the rail. I really recommend to have the rails done by a competent machine shop. The job has to be perfectly straight.

For the injectors

Here is a list of cars you can get the injectors from. Try getting the injectors from a 6cyl. cars so your injectors comes all from the same cars and not 2 different cars.
6-cyl
1995-98 Maxima 2988cc
1993-96 300ZX 2960 VG30D
1993-95 300ZX 2960 VG30E
1992-95 Maxima 2988 VO30DE
1996 I30 2988 VQ30DE
1993-96 J30 2960 VO30DE

4-cyl
1995 200SX 1998cc SR20DE
1991-94 Sentra 1998cc SR20DE
1991-93 NX 1998cc SR20DE
1991-95 G20 1998 SR20DE
1995 240SX w/AT 2389cc KA24DE
1993-95 Altima 2389cc KA24DE
1991-94 240SX 2389cc KA24DE

The red tops once modded give 550cc, the pink top once modded give 480cc. Be carefull with the sr20det injectors as they are 370cc and once modded they give 880cc (according to ray on PT). 880 Is more than you'll ever need

this is what has to be done to the injectors.
first take them out of their fuel rails. What I did his stuck the rail in a vice and pry with a set of vice grip on top of the pastic part of the injectors, I twisted and pull and came right off
This is what they look like once out.
Image

You have to take the cap off. Just use a pair of plyers, there's nothin to it
This is what they look like without their cap
Image

Rub the injector on a 100grit sandpaper until you can take the top part with a little knife. See the pictures below. It's hard to explain.

Take your time for the first one.
Once done you'll see a big pintle instead of 4 little holes.
Image

this is how nissan limited their flow on their cars. At the base they are all the same but they have all different tips.
for the oring, I used the stock upper nissan o-ring and stock kl bottom oring. Some say to get a 7/8 top oring but the nissan one did the job for me.
Image

Next you have to mod the hats. The only thing you have to do is open up the holes on each side by the center because the distance between the 2 holes on the k serie rail is smaller than the nissan one. I used a drill to start them up and finish the job with a lime (sp?) Image

After that drop the injectors in the rails. be carefull. Lubricate the orings before dropping them in or you can split an oring open easly (see post under by mazdamaniacmx3 for types of lube to be used) the injectors will be hard to install in the rail but that's normall.
After that install the hats on top and use the mazda bolts or nissan. They are all the same.
Image

As far as connectors are concerned, just use the one on the car that the injectors came out (see list above) and you can use these one too.

1995-98 200SX 1597cc GA16DE
1991-98 Sentra 1597cc GA16DE

That's it. One thing I suggest is having them test flow prior to intalling them in your car so you can be sure what flow rate they are and you have an exact number to enter in your stand alone. It will also make sure that they are the same flow.

Some say you can also use subaru injectors but nobody as played with them yet

Happy boosting:)

Nice write up Steve and deffinitely a keeper. Good info in case I need to go bigger than the Millennia injectors for the SC. Ask the mods to make this a sticky or copy into FAQ's.

Post LUBE FOR ORINGS
DONOT use Vaseline for the Oring - I know the orings are treated but a constant bath in a petroleum based jelly will deterioate the structure causing it to stretch and dryrot, Use a silicone based oring lubricant , They can usually be found at a Swimming pool store , if you can't get some there let me know I work At a swimming pool store its about 6 dollars a tube .

Just wanted to let you guys know .
Goodluck on your projects
Thanks
Kris

No problem , Alot of people use that on the orings in Swimming pools , I mean its better than a dry oring in the perspective its going to stop the leakm but its going to cut down the life of the oring dramatically , Thanks for the writeup its very helpful , Do you know a good place to get them flowtested ?

Thanks
Kris

One more question the k8 fuel rails are the same thing as the KL rails right ?
I know the injector holes are but is the actual rail inner diameter the same ?
Only reason I am asking is because I have 2 extra rails from k8's laying around but I don't want to bottleneck the injectors , I just picked up 6 Nissan Injectors today ,
Thanks
Kris

Personnaly I don't like that set-up. It's probably cheaper but you can't be sure that the fuel is evenly distributed on all cylinders. People normally that wants to run a serious set-up change injectors. In my mind it's the only right way to have more fuel
