 Re: New MX?!?
that interior just brought back the nightmares...... they could use that as torture. I couldn't stand being in that car for 5 minutes. It probably comes with a "creamsicle" freshener....

 Re: New MX?!?
Thats the smallest minivan ive ever seen, not an mx-3 though lol that interior is ugly, maybe if they change the puke coloured dash to black it wouldnt be so bad lol. Word to Mazda- Fire Your Designers, and re-hire those who made the MX-3! lol

ahah yah that interior colour is hideous
if they had the front end more like the concept drawing more flattened out then it would look slightly better, but the rear has to be completely redone

Beautiful concept drawings - and pretty close to the final product too.
It's nice that the designers of our MX-3s stuck to their guns.
Usually the final product ends up looking like a dreadful parody of the concept drawing.
It would be nice if a true replacement for the MX-3 was created.
Something about the size of the RX-8 with most of it's virtues - minus the innovative but oil hungry Rotary Engine. It should have the true capacity to carry 4 adult passengers (like the RX-8) fuselage, yet retain elements that would indicate its creation as an evolution of the original MX-3 Coupe.
Minimum 1.8i DOHC 16v i4 Engine (with at least 125bhp & very good fuel economy), Hotrod versions to include a 2.5i V6 24v Beast of a powerplant to satisfy the voracious appetites of those who really want to go, er, very very fast (and have loads of power on tap).
Just my 2 pence worth, but methinks somebody has said this all already.
Thunderstorm.
(Apologies if this is in the wrong topic)

Screw the 1.8 and 2.5l, those are old outdated engines, the easiest way would be to put the 2.0L i4 from the Mazda3 that does 148hp or the 2.3l that does 160hp, and for the "GS", 3.0l v6 from the Mazda6 in there that does 220hp.
That's all Mazda needs to do it make a 2-door coupe, all their cars minus the Mx-5 are all 4-doors. Even the Rx-8 is 4-door. It's nice that Mazda is getting back to their roots, but their forgetting one thing, 2 door cars.

We should remember, one of the main reasons we havent seen a real actual replacement for the mx-3 is that it's genes got cross-pollenated with the RX-7 since the FD days. There was a website somewhere around, that had renditions and models of early versions of the 3rd gen RX-7, and a lot of em looked practically traced off the MX-3 Concept. In the article/website it always stated that the RX-7 was modeled after the "MX-03" concept. Yet another website pointed out one of the reasons why people are dissatisfied with the RX-8 in comparison with the RX-7, is that in truth the 8 should really not be considered the "next 7," but only a whole new car with a rotary. Same paragraph states that the RX-8 resembles more like a new generation MX-3 or something. And i think i agree.
So no doubt, the mazda gene pool still has some mx-3 left in there somewhere, just hidden away as a recessive gene, due to all the redneck in-breeding (where we get results like this new MX-whats-its-face). And for that very reason, i believe the MX-3 gene will survive and return to us even more triumphant than ever before. *nod

I think it survived into the later gen Protégé's, but I don't know about the Mazda3 is it carried over anything or now.
